^13^ Enviromental problems

Last month, we watched a video. The name is “In Convenient truth”. It is about Global Warming, but I think the Global Warming is one of the effects; the same as the population of the earth, it is increasing very fast. Humans must make the earth support the increasing population. This has made it necessary for agriculture and industry to develop rapidly. Such a rapid development produces more and more waste, which goes into the water, the soil and the air. Some of it is made harmless. However, where there is too much of it, the poisonous waste may do great harm to the things around the people. I hope people will be awareness of these negative effects, and let’s protect our earth.

^12^ My professor

I am taking credit course. One of my professors is wired because she does not allow students using computers in her classes. Therefore, I think today, computer is no longer patent of professional computer engineers. More and more common people even students can use computers when they are on the classes.Since computers are becoming popular, there is a new challenge for every teacher. Students can use computer or scientific calculator in the class of grammar and mathematics instead of doing those coalitions by their own brains. Therefore, students can work out problems quickly but what they have learned is just typing skill not mathematics skill, so I think computer should be banned is class. In all, I think if the computers are banned in class, students may listen to the classes more carefully than before.

^11^ Where are the animals future?

Today, when I was walking though the U of C, I saw four rabbits were playing in the grass ground. It makes me think that today, many wild animals are facing the danger of extinction, because the environment that they are living in has changed greatly. For example, with the development of cities, the using of insecticide and serious pollution, their living areas have become narrower and narrower. Many of the wild animals, now are confronted with food crisis. At the same time, man is killing off species just for getting their fur, skin, horns, teeth and meat.In order to protect our resources of ecology, people should realize that the loss of any species is at least the loss of source of knowledge and a source of natural beauty. Therefore, measures of the following should be taken: pollution standards are made to keep down poisons; killing off certain rare species is prohibited; national parks should be set up as wild life, reserves. Only if we human beings take some drastic measures can wild animals be preserved.

^10^ Too Bad, So Sad

Today, I went to Chinatown with my girlfriend. We decided to create a TD bank account because my friend told me TD bank is faster than BMO to make direct deposit. After we created our bank account, we decided to eat our supper in the resturant. We chose Chong Qing Hot Pot Resturant because there food is spicy and delicious, and I love spicy food. When we entered in, I found there was nobody inside except the owner. The owner told us there was less people eat dinner at 4 o' clock. That was why there was nobody in the resturant. When we sat down, we did not order the food immediately. We started chatting with the owner. From our conversation, she told us she already sold the resturant to another people because she always fell tired when she open the resturant, and she is the only person know how to cook Si Chuan dishes. Therefore, she has to cook almost one day. We suggested her to hire an assistant people, but she told us nobody wants to work in the resturant because it is too tired. Also, she told us because she always uses her right hand to cook, her right arm got hurt, and she is a normal house wife in China, so she did not get any training about cooking. At end, her wrist and arm always feel painful. When we finished our conversation, the owner went to the kitchen to cook some food for us. At that moment, my eyes are full of tears.

^9^ Terrrible weather

In my mind, Calgary's weather is very good because I remember last year, the winter time is very short. Basically, in Febulary, it was not snow any more. However, I was shocked by this semester. It is still snowing in April. When I told my Chinese friends, they all shocked. Last week, my friend told me Calgary would continue snowing until June. I think it is impossible, so I do not believe him. In Chinese culture, people always say heavy snow can bring you good luck, but in this winter, I have not met good luck. I was sliped over 3 times in one time. It was a really terrible memory for me because 2 times, I falled down when I was crossing the road, and the cars just stopped beside me. I think if the driver did not care the road situation, I might be died. The last time, I sliped over with my girlfriend. I made her arm almost dislocated. I am so regret. I am still waiting for the end of the winter......My God.

^8^ Getting a job

Everybody knows that this semester is closing to the end. Most my friends are going to go back their home country, but I will keep staying at here because I think if I go back China, I will play computer games everyday, and it will waste my time and money. Therefore, I choose to stay at here. I can start a new creadit course next semester, also, I plan to get a job because my friend tell me he gets a good job in Chartwell, and the salary is $14 each hour. For me, $14 each hour is very high. I still remember when I just came to Canada, I found a job, and the salary is only $7.5. Moreover, I roughly calculate I will get at least 2000 dollars in one month, so I plan to work until July to earn enough money for my next next tuition. Also, I believe if my mother knows I will find a good job, she must feel happy of me.

Last weak, I downloaded a movie which named 911, and the main actor is Nicholas Cage. When I saw this movie, I was shocked by the firefighters because from this movie, I saw how the firefighters fight for fire, and how they rescure the people who are covered by ruins, and when the policemen asked to leave, they all refused, for they not only found for the people, but also they found for thire partners. Undountly, there are thousands people died when the towers crushed. However, a great number of them are firefighters and polices. After I watched this movie, I think it is not only a disaster for America but also for the whole world.

^6^ Some suggestions

Today is really a beautiful day, but not everybody feels happy with this beautiful day. When I was hang out with my friend, he did not seem very happy. He told me when he thought he needed to stay in language program, he would become very sad. From our conversation, he is in the ESL program which means he needs to spend over 2 years to study English; also, they were canceled their degree by language program. He is so confused, and it is very hard to make him believe that he needs to spend over 12 thousand dollars to pay for his language courses. My friends suggested him to apply another university, but he told me his goal is in the U of C. When I start writing this blog, I am thinking about the values for the language program. Are they real help students to learn English, or just make they drowing in the death water.

^5^ A Painful Memory

We just passed the midterm exam. people may recognize midterm test is very important for every student because it determinds that you fail or pass. I still remember that last semester when I was doing the midterm test, I was almost freak out, and I felt very bad because I did not identify questions clearly, and I did not organize my time, so I did not finish my essay. That feeling was very terrible for me; also, I predicted that I would not pass.
Today, It was the second time for me to do the midterm test. I learned from my mistakes. I was appropriately orgnized my time, so I finished my essay very early, and I think this time would be much better than the last time. In fact, it is a very common problem among students. Students usually forget to orgnize their time when they are under the pressures; therefore, it was very easy cause students cannot finish their essay. Finally, I hope students can learn from my mistakes to avoid lossing marks.
